Guide

GST on Singapore invoices

Singapore GST is 9%, up from 8% on 1 January 2024. Invoices for sales made before that change may have used the older rate, so check the date rules if you are billing across that period.

Only GST-registered businesses should charge GST and show a GST registration number. The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) website lists what a tax invoice needs and when you must register.

FAQ

Singapore invoice questions

What is the GST rate in Singapore?

It is 9% since 1 January 2024. Check IRAS if your sale falls near that date.

Do I have to charge GST?

Only if you are GST registered. If you are not, do not add GST or a GST number. IRAS explains when registration is needed.

What is PayNow?

PayNow is a fast bank transfer that uses a mobile number or UEN. Add your PayNow details in the notes so clients can pay at once.

What is a UEN?

A UEN is the Unique Entity Number given to businesses in Singapore. Many businesses show it on their invoices.

What payment terms are common?

Many businesses use 14 or 30 days. Write the due date on the invoice.
