What a proforma invoice is

A proforma invoice is a preliminary bill sent before goods are shipped or work is done. It shows the expected items, prices, and costs. It is often used for exports, customs, and advance payments.

A proforma invoice is not a tax invoice. It is not a final request for payment, and it does not replace the invoice you send later. Include your details, the buyer, the items, prices, shipping terms, and the word proforma so nobody mistakes it for a final bill.
